Established in 1958, School of Electronic Information Engineering is one of the earliest School of CSLG, with a rich cultural heritage and a comprehensive academic edge. The School has four undergraduate programs on Electronic Science & Technology, Optoelectronic Information Science & Engineering and Electronic Information Engineering, New Energy Science and Engineering. New Energy Science and Engineering is a Feature Major of Jiangsu Province and a Major of “12th Five-Year” Plan of the Ministry of Education of China. Optoelectronic Information Science & Engineering and Electronic Information Engineering are the pilot majors of provincial excellent engineer education program; the major of Electronic Information Engineering has passed the engineering education certification of the Ministry of Education; the major of Electronic Information Engineering and New Energy Science and Engineering are the first-class specialty in Jiangsu Province.

The School has four provincial teaching and scientific research platforms, including Jiangsu Textile Machinery Engineering Research Center, Jiangsu Laboratory of Advanced Functional Materials, Jiangsu Basic Physics Experiment Demonstration Center and Jiangsu Electrical and Electronic Experiment Teaching Center. It also has Intelligent Instrument Research Institute and Computational Physics and Material Computing Institute. In June 2009, Atlas Photovoltaic Science and Technology college was established, and began to recruit students majoring in Photovoltaic Information Engineering (photovoltaic technology and industry).

The School now has more than 1800 full-time undergraduate students, with a well-structured faculty member of 10 professors, 38 associate professors. 53 of the teachers are PhD degree holders. In recent years, the school faculty has hosted 30 national science funding projects, 10 ministerial and provincial projects. Over 700 papers have been published on Nature Materials, Physical Review Letters, Physical Review B, Applied Physics Letters.

The School encourages students to participate actively in different kinds of competitions in order to improve their practical and innovative abilities. In the past two years, students have won more than 200 important awards in many national and provincial competitions, such as national college students' physical skills competition, electronic design competition, robot competition, software design competition, mathematics competition and other contests.

In 2018, approved by Ministry of Education of China, the School has developed a "3+1" dual-degree undergraduate program on Electronic Information Engineering with Liverpool John Moores University (UK). 80 full-time students of dual-degree program are enrolled every year. Under the guidance of the principle of "Focusing on Science as well as integrating industry with education", the school firmly strengthens the development of all subjects and concerns on collaboration with local enterprises in order to cultivate highly-skilled talents.
