Normal School has seven research and training centers, which are Applied Institution Research Center of CAHE Institutional Research Branch, Research Center for Literature and Culture of the Southern Jiangsu Province, Research Center for Children's Development, Institution for Music and Culture in Wu Region, International Test and Training Center for Chinese Language, Population Education and Training Center, and Arts Education Center.

The School now has 4 undergraduate specialties — Chinese Language and Literature, Elementary Education, Preschool Education, and Music Education. It has enrolled over 1600 full-time undergraduate students and has 106 faculty members, among which there are 15 professors, 37 associate professors, 1 doctoral supervisor, 8 master supervisors, 31 doctorates, and several short-term lecturers.

The Chinese Language and Literature is a provincial feature specialty. The Pre-school Education is a feature specialty at university level. Education and Music are key subjects at university level. Its research team focused on Chinese modern and contemporary literature has won provincial excellence accolade. Its another research team of Southern Jiangsu Wu Dialect and Oral Non-substantial Heritage has been titled as an excellent innovation team of Jiangsu University Philosophy and Social Science. In the fields of Southern Jiangsu literature, language and culture, Wu Music and non-substantial heritage, arts education, and campus culture establishment, the School acts as a leading center and think tank for local businesses and exchanges.

The School is well-equipped with digital piano rooms, computer music recording rooms, instrument performance rooms, a modernized performance hall, dancing rooms, audio and video collection rooms. These have all nourished students' innovative ability, cultural creativeness, core practical abilities and organization abilities.

The School has exchange programs for students and faculties with Dongduk Women's University (South Korea) and Taichung University of Education (Taiwan, China). It also offers courses on Chinese Language, Chinese Culture and so on to international students from different countries and regions, such as South Korea, Russia, Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan. Besides, it is one of the HSK testing centers for non-Chinese students.
