In Autumn 2019, Our University Holds the Opening Ceremony of the 2019 Sino-American Dual Degree Program

On the afternoon of November 8,2019,the opening ceremony of the 2019 Sino-American University Open Day and the joint training program of Chinese and foreign credit recognition at colleges and universities was held in the lecture hall of the East Lake Library. OurPresient Jiang Zuojun,and presidents fromU.S. University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, University of Minnesota Duluth, Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, Troy University and leaders of China Education International Education Exchange Center ,as well as the leaders of functional departments such as the International Cooperation and Exchange Office, Academic Affairs Office, Student Work Office of ouruniversity, School of Economics and Management, School of Computer Science and Engineering, School of Biological and Food Engineering, School of Electrical and Automation Engineering, School of Chemistry and Materials Engineering, School of Mathematics and Statistics, the project leader, the class teacher of class 2019, all freshmen and representatives of theirparents' attended the ceremony. Zhang Genhua, vice president of ouruniversity,hosted the opening ceremony.

President Jiang Zuojun pointed out in his speech that Changshu Institute of Technology regards internationalization as one of the ways to cultivate talents, with the goal of cultivating application-oriented talents with cross-cultural communication ability, sustainable learning and development ability with international vision.Now,Changshu Institute of Technologyhas established partnerships with more than 80 colleges and universitiesfrom 20 countries and regions. International cooperative education covers 3 Sino-foreignCooperativeEducationPrograms and 6 Sino-American Dual Degree Programs, building a multi-dimensional international educationPlatform.

President Jiang said that the Sino-American Dual Degree Program and the "Sino-US Talent Training Plan" is a key international cooperation and exchange platform created by Changshu Institute of Technology. Over the years, the "Sino-US Talent Training Plan" has trainedmore than50 outstanding graduates. In 2017, theChangshu Institute of Technology incorporated the joint training project into the enrollment plan, opened 6 different majors across the school, pioneered the 1.5 + 2 + 0.5 training model, and cultivated high-quality international applied talents with Chinese and American double degrees. In November 2018, theuniversity established theSchool ofSino-American Education of Changshu Institute of Technology and the two-way exchange platform for Chinese and American college students in Jiangsu Province. Together with 11 colleges and universities in Jiangsu Province, it created three platforms for the exchange of Chinese and American students, teacher exchanges, and scientific research cooperation in Jiangsu Province to stimulateInternational Education Exchange vitality and promote the development of exchanges between Chinese and foreign talents. He hopes to further strengthen exchanges and cooperation between Chinese and American universities in the future, promote more mutual visits of teachers and student exchanges, and wish the Chinese and American cooperation to achieve fruitful results, and wish the students who participated in the joint training project to achieve academic success.

President James Schmidt, from theUniversity ofWisconsin-Eau Claire, introduced the environment and atmosphere of the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire and the city where theuniversity is located.He reviewed the past that 68 students from changshu Institute of technology have come to study inUniversity of Wisconsin-Eau Clairesince 2008 and45 freshmenwould join this year. Withdeep friendshipboth sides have forged, he said that Eau Claire attaches great importance to overseas study programs, because this is an important project for the participating students and their families, bothuniversities and even each other's country. I believe that Chinese and foreign students canget closer by studying in a commonenvironment and then change each other's lives and connect the whole world. He emphasized that the goal of the jointeducation program is to help students of the project to carry out professional learning through high-quality university education, and at the same time gain more internship experience, so as to grow into a comprehensive talent. He suggests and encourages freshmen to participate in jointeducation programs to do their best to fully experience life and learning at Eau Claire, whether in the dormitory, track and field, or community activities, will gain a lifetimefriendship, experience a new life, will study with peers, challenge each other but support each other, andhopes new students can regard Eau Claire as their home.

On the morning of the same day, the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, the University of Minnesota Duluth, Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, Troy University, etc. also held "Meet America" lectures for teachers and studentsfrom different schoolsof ouruniversity.
